Girls' U15 Netball v Portsmouth High School (A) - Tuesday 25 February 2025

5-14

It was a tough start to the game against a good PHS side. Bedales didn't manage to settle in well during the first quarter, giving PHS the chance to pull away with a five-goal lead. However, by the second quarter the game play was much more well matched, with both teams scoring two goals each during that quarter. This continued into the third quarter, with both teams performing extremely well and demonstrating brilliant defensive play. Unfortunately, PHS were able to maintain their lead and pulled away slightly further in the last quarter, with a final score of 5-14. Calypso and Liberty were selected by the opposition as the MVPs of the match.

Girls' 1st Netball v Bohunt School, Liphook (H) - Wednesday 26 February 2025

14-3

A really exciting game, with lots of brilliant play from both sides. This was Bohunt's debut match for the season, which we were thrilled to be able to host.

The teams were very well matched when it came to centre court play and moving through the court, however, Bedales were able to put away more goals with a strong shooting performance from Tilly and Biba. We had to make a lot of changes to our C and WA positions, but Zibs, Joy, Eliza, and Posey, coped with these changes well and were able to make those all-important feeds into the circle. Our defence was remarkable; Mae, Carla and Katie were able to move the ball out of the defensive third quickly, which made it difficult for Bohunt to feed to the ball into the circle, resulting in many rebounds and interceptions that were then converted to goals.

From start to finish it was an exciting and fast-paced game that was enjoyable to umpire. The final score was 14-3 to Bedales and the MVPs selected by the opposition were Mae - for her brilliant work as a circle defender and Tilly - for her outstanding shooting performance.

Girls' U15 Netball v Boundary Oak School (H) - Tuesday 4 March 2025

-, 8-3

U14/15 Netball

Boundary Oak brought their U15 A and B teams, which meant we needed to bring our U14As (plus a few B team players) up to play. On this occasion, it was decided to spilt the game so that each Bedales side played two quarters against both Boundary Oak sides.

With a few U15 players missing this week, Jojo moved up to the U15 side to give options to the team. The U15s had a tough start against a strong Boundary Oak A team, but despite playing with lots of grit and determination, they unfortunately lost this game.

The second game against the Boundary Oak B team was a much more level playing field, with Bedales improving their ability to move the ball through the court and to goal. They won this game 8-3 and MVPs selected by the opposition for both these games were Lucy, Marlene and Liberty.

Girls' U14 Netball v Boundary Oak School (H) - Tuesday 4 March 2025

15-8, 13-21

The U14s played Boundary Oak B team first. The first quarter was extremely competitive, with lots of goals scored. There was only a two goal difference at the end of the first quarter, with Bedales leading 8-6. Changes were made in the second quarter to rotate players on, and this is when Bedales had really settled into the game. They have shown improvement in driving onto the ball and in their ability to mark. The final score for this game was 15-8 to Bedales.

The second game against the U15A team was more of a challenge for the U14 side, but one that they rose to extremely well. They played with brilliant composure and grit, with the first eight minutes of the 10-minute quarter staying level. However, Boundary Oak were able to pull away with a goal difference of six in the final two minutes of the first quarter. Bedales fought extremely hard in the final quarter, closing the gap on the goal difference and only losing by two in the second quarter. The final score was 21-13 to Boundary Oak, but we are extremely proud of the U14's performance. MVPs selected by the opposition were Ottilie (in both games) and Elodie.

Girls' 1st Netball v Churcher's College (A) - Wednesday 12 March 2025

15-12

1st Girls Netball

In an intense and tightly contested netball match, Bedales emerged victorious over Churcher's with a final score of 15-12.

The game was close throughout, with both teams putting on an impressive display of skill and determination. At halftime, the score was deadlocked at 5-5, reflecting the evenly matched nature of the contest. The first half saw standout defensive performances from Carla, Mae, and Katie, who worked tirelessly to deny Churcher's any easy opportunities to score. Their exceptional defensive efforts made it difficult for the opposition to find their rhythm, constantly pressuring and intercepting passes.

In attack, Bedales showed great composure when in possession of the ball. The trio of Posy, Zibs, and Joy controlled the attacking play with patience and precision, ensuring that the ball was moved effectively through the court and delivered safely to our shooters. The shooting duo of Biba and Tilly had a slightly slower start than they have perhaps been used to, but they found their form and the ability to dominate the circle and score goals under pressure proved vital in the final stages of the match.

With only one goal separating the teams entering the last quarter, Bedales displayed their full potential. Their confident passing and solid defensive structure in the final minutes allowed them to pull away and secure a well-deserved victory. The final score of 15-12 saw Bedales come out on top, with Biba and Zibs named the MVPs for their outstanding performances. However, it was a fantastic team effort from the whole squad, with every player contributing to the success in what was a memorable and hard-fought match.

Girls' 2nd Netball v Churcher's College (A) - Wednesday 12 March 2025

15-7

2nd Girls Netball

There were a few last-minute changes to the team, seeing Naomi and Jemima from Block 3 come up to play for the 2nd team. With a team of 7 players, there were no opportunities to bring players on from the bench. Luckily, this was a very versatile team, with the girls all rising to the challenge of no subs well, playing extremely well together.

Bedales started strong against the Churcher's side, with a great performance displayed throughout the court. The defence was extremely strong, making multiple tips and turnovers which secured a four-goal lead. We made changes to the team every quarter, allowing players to rotate into different positions to help maintain energy levels for the whole game. In the second and third quarter we drew with the Churcher's side, bringing the score at the end of the third quarter to 9-5.

When it came to the final fourth quarter, Bedales had settled into the game well and were ready to extend their lead. With brilliant defensive play from Paige, Honor and Ella, Bedales were able to make numerous turnovers in the defensive third, minimising Churcher's chance to shoot. Naomi and Brooke also made brilliant turnovers in the attacking third, which meant we could get back into the circle quickly. Vava moved onto the ball well, helping her team bring the ball up through the court, as well as feed the ball into the shooting circle as the Centre for the team in the final quarter. Brooke and Jemima worked extremely well together in the final quarter, with Brooke making a brilliant shot from the outer area of the shooting D.

The final score was 15 - 7 to Bedales. MVPs selected by the opposition were: Ella, for her outstanding defensive performance; Naomi, for her performance as both a shooter and Wing Attack; and Jemima, for both her defensive and attacking performance. Well done Bedales.

Girls' U15/U14 Netball v Bohunt School, Liphook (A) - Wednesday 12 March 2025

12-24

U14-15 Netball

The girls worked really hard throughout the match. Bohunt outplayed us in the first quarter, but Bedales responded by slowing their game and playing some really effective netball. Although Bedales lost 24 - 12, we made changes and were able to win the final quarter. MVPs selected by the opposition were Jojo and Ottilie.

Girls' 1st Netball v Portsmouth High School (A) - Thursday 13 March 2025

11-13

1st Girls Netball

An extremely well-contested match against a strong PHS side. Bedales managed to maintain possession for a lot of the game, however small mistakes became quite costly for the Bedales side by the end. The movement on court improved throughout the game and a strong defensive performance from Joy, Katie and Mae helped the team to turn the ball over on many occasions. A tactical change at the end saw Bedales close the gap, however we ran out of time and the match ended 13-11 to PHS. A brilliant game to watch and one that was so close to resulting in a win. MVP selected by the opposition was Mae for her brilliant performance in defence.

6.1 v 6.2 Netball Match - Thursday 27 March 2025

15-9

To finish the Netball season, we held a 6.1 v 6.2 (Year 12 v Year 13) match in our final team training session.

It was a great match, with a few players playing for the first time this season, which was great to see! The 6.1s took an early lead, but the 6.2s came back with a strong performance in the third quarter. They won this quarter 6-4, which brought them right back into the game. Unfortunately for the 6.2s, the gap was too large to close completely and the 6.1s ended winning the game 15-9.

A lovely way to end the season - well done to both teams for a brilliant afternoon of netball.
