The Bedales gym re-opened its doors two weeks ago following an extensive refurbishment, and it has been fantastic to see students making the most of the new facilities.
The update has transformed what had become a tired space into a state-of-the-art fitness haven. It features a resistance room, cardio room and fitness suite, with a new layout that makes excellent use of what was previously a storage space.
As well as the new layout, which means more students can work out at the same time, the new gym is equipped with a custom gym floor and professional-grade fitness equipment. Students have been eager to start using the new space, with over 100 already completing induction sessions to enable them to use the equipment safely and responsibly.

There are 20 different drop-in sessions available for students throughout the week, starting as early as 7.30am and running until 9.30pm. Students can also access the gym during some of their Sport lessons, so they can make full use of the new facilities.
One of the highlights in the gym’s opening week was the new girls’ gym session on Tuesday evening. It was so popular that there were queues to use some of the equipment! The boys have also been getting up early to make the most of the morning session before breakfast.
We know that regular exercise plays an important role in students’ physical and mental wellbeing, and the new gym facilities will help encourage them to stay active. A big thank you to the Facilities and Sport teams for their hard work in making this possible.
