Bedales ‘Get Set Go Runners’ sent a team to the Summer Series 5k road race along the promenade in Gosport on Tuesday evening. Our team of 13 included 11 boys from every year group at Bedales, Dora Houghton from Block 3, and teacher Greg Clarke. There was a surprisingly large crowd on the promenade: it transpired that most of them were there for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings fly past. We witnessed a Lancaster bomber, a Dakota and several Spitfires and Messerschmitts. In the midst of this cheerful and proud gathering, we set off at a hasty pace. Sixth Former Nat Steele was the first Bedalian home in a time of 18:42, a very impressive 7th in a field of fast club runners. We all had plenty of fun running on the windy esplanade and we will send a team to the second event in the series in July. View results.
