If life is a padlock, Wellbeing lessons are the key

Research shows that a life full of meaning, purpose and supportive relationships leads to a happy, healthy life. At Bedales Prep, our Wellbeing programme aims to provide the foundations required for exactly this. Lessons help to give students the knowledge, skills and understanding to begin to develop the values they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives. We support our students to recognise their own worth, work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning. Our aim is to help our children make positive decisions in life and to look at their role in society.

Nurture, nourish and thrive

  • Our students are encouraged to reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially.
  • We tackle many of the spiritual, moral, socio-economic and cultural issues that are part of growing up in the 21st century.
  • Develop a ‘tool box’ to be able to confidential dip into for support.
  • Prepare students in making informed choices about their own life and the impact those decisions may have on others.
  • Talk about mental health in the same way as physical and emotional health.
  • Reality vs the virtual world
  • The nature of Wellbeing lessons deals with sensitive issues, which need to be approached effectively. Every lesson runs on agreed ground rules to ensure respect, honesty and integrity.
