At Bedales Pre-prep, we understand that every child is unique, with their own strengths, challenges and aspirations. We aim for children to feel supported and valued to reach their full potential.

In most cases, children’s individual needs are met through the curriculum and good classroom practice. Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed to support children’s holistic development, recognising and nurturing their unique strengths, interests and needs.
However, we monitor each child’s development carefully so we can identify if children need additional support in specific areas of learning. Able, Gifted and Talented
We recognise that children may have exceptional talents in one area of the curriculum, and they may need additional consideration to meet their needs. Teachers know the children very well – both as characters and learners – and provide them with learning opportunities appropriate to their abilities while also ensuring they focus on their social and emotional wellbeing.
We observe, identify and challenge children with appropriate tasks to extend their learning, and seek out ‘intellectual playfulness’ that develops their curiosity and inquisitive nature. We plan suitably challenging learning opportunities as part of every lesson, so all abilities are catered for. Small classes and child: teacher ratios mean we can effectively personalise learning to promote high levels of engagement, independent learning, confidence and self-esteem.
