The final Monday afternoon of this year summoned Block 5s and prospective 6.1s to the Steephurst pitches, where the components for 10 F1 Soap-box carts were laid out. Over the next few hours, the teams designed (Head); constructed (Hand); and decorated (Heart); their F1 soap-box chariots. Ten top quality carts emerged, emblazoned with flamboyant flames; covered with flashy attachments; and of course marked by their illustrious sponsors - BMW, Jaguar, Brazzers, and Domino’s Pizza. Once completed, each cart was wheeled to the start line, where three heated races defined the finalists. An intense final was dominated by Alia Mehta (driver) and myself (pusher) of team eight. The carts were also judged according to their aesthetic and structural qualities. Final scores were: team Allah in 3rd, team 2 in 2nd, and Rims of Fire in 1st.
