Two Sixth Form students are marking the end of their time at Bedales by cycling unsupported from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Loet Brouwer (18 years) and Cian Watson (17 years) have planned the arduous 14-day activity in July having taken their A Levels this summer.

Loet commented: “I have always wanted to do something adventurous and physically challenging and I am really pleased that Cian agreed to join in too. Bedales has had such a huge impact in developing me into the person I am. By raising bursary funds through the John Badley Foundation, I will be able to give something back, help others and show appreciation for my education."

Training has involved cycle trips around the Meon Valley in between A level revision, and Loet is hoping his Dutch background with its strong cycling tradition will see him through. The cyclists will be unsupported, carrying all their kit including a tent for overnight accommodation.

They are raising funds for the John Badley Foundation, which provides transformational opportunities for children facing challenging circumstances to attend  Bedales Prep, Dunhurst and Bedales Senior School through full bursaries.

The cyclists welcome donations online here.
