Block 3s outward bounding at Ullswater
Last week Block 3 went to Ullswater, an activity centre in the Lake District, where they took part in a range of team building activities led by Outward Bound instructors, including trapeze (climbing up a high pole and jumping to grab the trapeze), kale pot (clambering along a cliff and jumping into the lake), jog and dip (in the lake), gorge walking, rowing, raft building and much more. One night was spent camping and another day climbing up Helvellyn, the third tallest mountain in England. On the return journey the group visited the Emma Bridgewater Factory, where Old Bedalian Matthew Rice welcomed the students before they went on a tour of the large scale ceramic production and the vast kiln – witnessing admirable attention to detail in both production and decoration. The highlight for the students was decorating a mug of their own with sponge stamps.
