Have you undertaken any kind of further study since leaving Bedales and have you gained any further qualifications?
Having left Bedales in June 2005 I took a one year gap year during which I lived in Madrid and learned Spanish, acquiring a language degree. In January 2007 I started at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland, on a four and a half year course which I completed in May 2011, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management. I have also just been accepted to complete a Masters degree in Wine Marketing and Management in Bordeaux (France).
What kind of work are you currently involved in, and how and why have you come to be doing it?
I am currently (until the end of September 2013) working in a real estate firm in Switzerland doing hotel transactions, advisory and brokerage as well as other real estate activities (marketing, corporate solutions...). I came to work here because back in September 2011 the company was the exclusive partner to Jones Lang Lasalle in Switzerland and I wanted to try and work in the hotels advisory sector of JLL. I was offered the job and took the opportunity.
Did attending Bedales help you in getting to where you are now?
Bedales helped me in many ways to get where I am now as it formed my character and my personality. It was a fantastic school which taught me an awful lot about people and myself; qualities and knowledge I would probably not have gained elsewhere.
Have you been involved in any other interesting activities or occupations since leaving school?
When I was at EHL with some friend we founded the C.A.K.E committee (creative artistic kitschy experience) where we organised different food, beverage and service related events. I was also the Head of Finance for the fête finale committee. The committee, besides hosting weekly events, also organises a dinner for 600 people and an "afterparty" in the school for 1,300 people.
