After Bedales, I went to medical school at the Université de Lausanne in Switzerland. I had quite a negative experience and dropped out after a couple years. A year or so after, I undertook a BSc in Psychology at the University of Sussex and obtained a first. I then went on to do a postgraduate certificate in Mental Health Practice.
I went into mental health out of personal interest and because it was relevant to myself and people close to me. I am also a qualified massage therapist. I did the training for this while in my second year of university in Brighton, because it helps me to get out of my own head and help people in a way that does not affect my own mental health. It balances out the emotional labour very well with my work in mental health.
I have been fortunate enough to go on many travels, though I'm sure that is no exception, so here's just a couple of the more exciting things: I spent three months on the coast of the spiny desert in Madagascar volunteering as a Dive Master collecting data for a marine conservation programme - That was great! I also climbed up Mt Kilimanjaro for charity a few years ago.
