Henry Dudley-Scott, 24/9/1899-22/9/1918
Bedales 1912-1917, RNAS
Henry joined the RNAS directly from school as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant. Mr Badley wrote in the Bedales Record, 1918-19:
“He was at first attached to the Balloon Section, and saw much service in the North Sea, mainly on the Chester under Captain Lawson. During this time he came back several times to the School, as simple and as cheery as ever. Later he transferred to the Aeroplane Section and became a pilot. He was flying at Stonehenge on 22 September 1918, when an accident occurred at starting: the machine failed to rise properly, crashed, and both he and the observer were killed.”
