Excitement as flexi-boarding returns for the Summer Term
The start of the Summer Term has ushered in some exciting new developments in the boarding houses at Bedales Prep, Dunhurst.
Refurbishment of the school’s boarding houses – Boys’ Wing and Girls’ Wing – began during the Easter break, and Dunhurst’s boarders were thrilled to see their ‘new’ dorms when they returned on 18 April.
The new term has also signalled the return of flexi-boarding, one of the school’s three boarding options, which allows pupils to board flexibly for one night or more as required to meet the varying needs of families. A popular option at Dunhurst, the return of flexi-boarding following a year of COVID related restrictions has been particularly well received, with many nights already fully booked.
Among the boarding highlights during the first week of term were a nature ramble – which included a visit to the Bedales Outdoor Work goats, piglets, cows, sheep and chickens – as well as a treasure hunt, toastie night and a trip to Southsea to visit the beach, enjoy an ice cream on the promenade and a meal together.
A packed programme of activities for the term ahead promises plenty more fun, with regular fixtures such as pamper nights, playground games and smoothie nights on offer alongside special one-off events, including an outdoor cinema evening, talent show, and a trip to the zoo.
Dunhurst Houseparents Simon Kingsley-Pallant and Alice Tang-Pullen said: "It was wonderful to see boarders return in a blaze of Sunday sunshine last week, and a real treat to be able to welcome back our flexi-boarders too. After a fantastic first week of term, we are all looking forward to plenty more fun in the term ahead.”
